What is Yoga?
Yoga is a philosophy originating in India and is at least 5,000 years old. The word yoga comes from the Sanskrit word “yuj” meaning, “union” or “to bind.” Yoga is all about uniting your body with your mind through a series of physical poses, breathing techniques, and meditation.
Yoga invites the practitioner to become more self-aware, and in so doing, establish a deeper connection with self and the world around you.
Can I drop in, or do I need to book?
At the moment, classes are offered as a 4-week course, rather than on a drop-in basis. Booking for the full 4-week course helps create a supportive and consistent space where you can settle into your practice, build consistency, connection and a sense of community within the group, while giving you the opportunity to develop your practice week by week.
Are there classes suitable for beginners?
Yes, I offer classes suitable for practitioners of all levels, including beginners. My Yoga Foundations class is perfect for beginners, where I will guide you through the practice with care and support.
Do I need to bring my own mat?
No, all yoga equipment is provided including mats, bolsters, blocks, blankets and eye pillows, however, if you want to bring your own you are more than welcome.
What should I bring to class?
Just yourself, some water and anything else that helps you feel comfortable. Most importantly, bring an open mind and give yourself permission to slow down.
What if I have an injury or health condition?
It's always best to inform me about any injuries or health conditions before class, and I can help you modify poses accordingly.
Where can I park?
We have free, private parking outside the studio.
Do you have a toilet facilities at the studio?
Yes, we do have a toilet in the studio.
What can I expect from a class?
Classes combine intentional movement, conscious breathwork and mindfulness. Depending on the class, you may move through strengthening and mobility-based practices before finishing with relaxation and stillness. My intention is for you to leave feeling more grounded, connected and at home in yourself.
I’m not very flexible. Can I still do yoga?
Absolutely. You don’t need to be flexible to practice yoga. Yoga isn’t about how far you can stretch or how a pose looks. Yoga invites us to move with intention, breathe consciously and cultivate a deeper connection to ourselves.
I have scoliosis. Is your yoga suitable for me?
My own experience of living with scoliosis has deeply shaped the way I approach yoga. I understand that every body is different, and I encourage students to explore movement with curiosity rather than forcing themselves into a particular shape. If you have scoliosis or another condition, please get in touch before your first class so we can discuss your individual needs.
What does “Light My Way” mean?
Light My Way is rooted in the idea that yoga can be a way of finding your way back to yourself. Through movement, breath and mindfulness, we create space to quiet the noise, reconnect with our bodies and listen inwardly. For me, yoga has been a light through challenging times — helping me feel grounded, present and more at home in myself. My hope is that your practice can offer you that same sense of connection and guide you gently back to yourself.
Do you offer private sessions & corporate classes?
Yes. Alongside my regular classes, I offer private yoga sessions and corporate yoga classes, tailored to suit the needs of individuals, groups and workplaces.
Private sessions can be a more personalised way to explore your practice, while corporate sessions can offer a meaningful opportunity for teams to pause, move, breathe and reconnect.
If you’d like to discuss a private or corporate session, please get in touch and we can create something that works for you.
